No, but the two crimes are very similar. Both were precipitated by remarks offensive to the murderer. The only difference is that the motivation of the woman was to save a young man's immortal soul, while the motive of Mathew Shepard was to commit a perverted sexual act.

I'm sure we all agree with the mainstream media that it is better to b*f* a young man than appeal to his higher nature.
