Christianity has no shortage of terrorists [Barf Alert]
Orlando Sentinel ^ | Published November 17, 2002 | Mike Thomas

Osama bin Laden uses the Islamic faith to justify his nationalist, anti-Western political agenda.

It is an old religious ploy, one that Muslims were on the receiving end of during the Crusades.

Pope Urban II used love of Jesus and hatred of Muslims to motivate his troops at the beginning of the Crusades. Urban actually called Muslims "infidels."

Political leaders often wear religious disguises and exploit hatred in pursuit of their goals.

This brings me to the leaders of the religious right in this country.

We know the enemy is within. It is not just Islam. Some people in this country would very much like to have the things we say here at The Free Republic, brought up on "hate crime" charges. With the tide of the media, it seems that this is not out of the relm of possibility.

I don't discount the possibiliy this could happen to Christians. There is something very sinister going on when right is wrong.

This is my letter to this guy

Your definition of terrorists needs serious adjustment.
Regarding the crusades, most will see through your spin to realize there is a grave difference between aggressors and defenders of the faithful.

Believers of a heretic are by definition infidels(non-believers).

You seem to be most upset with the statements of indisputable facts by
others. Yet, you are unconcerned with providing any factual basis for your own
anti-christian stance. When the faithful quote God's word, the bible, they paint the immoral into an uncomfortable corner. This is not being any more intolerant for the unfaithful than God himself.

If "You can delve into the texts of any religion and find verses that paint it as extreme and violent," then you should have for your lousy article. You could not even bring yourself to quote deuteronomy directly or with the notations.

"Please read this article."

I did. It's crap. The author apparently hasn't picked up a Bible recently:

They are taking Christianity, based on the peaceful and tolerant teachings of Jesus, and turning it into a hate cult.
Many of Jesus' teachings were neither peaceful nor tolerant. What he said and did often sparked violent reactions from the Pharisees, the Jewish religious leaders of the day. Jesus spoke more often of hell than he did of heaven. Was that peaceful? Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). Was that very tolerant?

To Jael:

The Muslims had it coming in the Crusades.

Originally a faith limited to a handfull of half-baked fanatics in central Arabia, its founder and cheif proponent, Muhammad, used terror and violence to forcibly convert the adjoing Arab tribes.

Then then invaded the predominantly Christian areas of Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, and Anatolia, not to mention Egypt and north Africa, which were part of the Christian Byzantine Empire. Likewise they invaded the predominantly monotheistic Zoroastrian Persian Empire to forcibly impose their half-baked cult in all those territories. Later, they spread across all of Christian north Africa and invaded the Christian Iberian Penninsula and France as far north as Tours - not far from the northern French City of Paris. In addition, they invaded Christian Sicily and southern Italy. They turned the Mediterranean Sea, once an avenue of commerce and trade and a route for the exchange of information and ideas into a pirate ridden hell hole whose inhabitants lived in constant fear of attack by "peaceful" Islamic corsairs and slave-raiders. The Crusades themselves were launched legitimately, by the Pope to oppose the cruelty of the Seljuk Turks, barbarians who recently converted to Islam and who were defiling Christian sacred sites in the Holy Land and persecuting and terrorizing Christian pilgrims.

Later on, after the Crusades were unfortunately allowed to wither and die by the western European states before they ridded the earth of this foul cult, an Islamic terrorist state in the form of the Ottoman Empire, invaded the Balkans, captured and defiled the Christian city of Constantinople, invaded the Balkans, creating the caldron of problems presently existing there, and threatened Central Europe as far as Vienna with their raiding, raping, pillaging hordes of barbarian savages.

Further, Russia was long plagued by the Khans of the Golden Horde on it southern borders, a nation of Muslims.

No, sorry, Jael, Christians have nothing to apologize for, except perhaps, not eliminating totally this vicious cult from the face of the earth, thus preventing escalation of the evils it continues to engender.

Unlike Christians, who long ago abandoned violence as an effective tool in disseminating their faith as it contradicts the preaching of Christianity's founder, Muslims, true to their faith, continue to follow the teachings of the half-baked criminal who founded their cult and attack and abuse and oppress anyone, not merely Christians and Jews, who are not followers of that cult.

Have a nice day, Jael.

Dear Zula,
I don't agree with the article. I just didn't know to put a "barf alert" in the subject line to let everyone know that. (Someone has since changed it and i am very grateful.)

I am a Christian. I believe that the writer of that article is purposefully trying to stir up hate against Christians by calling them terrorist. I am not a Pat Robertson fan, but like another poster said, "Show me one child that Pat Robertson murdered."

I posted the article in hopes that other loves of truth would see it and write the editor.

Judges 5:24  ¶Blessed above women shall Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite be, blessed shall she be above women in the tent.

Thanks for reading the whole article. I said that because I felt the excerpt left out the most offensive parts.

I am all for this guy having every right to say what he believes. But I also believe if he is lying he should be called on it.

It an evil act to equate Christians with murdering terrorist.

Jael,

Wow, it seems that a lot of freepers can't figure out that you do not agree with the article. I would have thought the "Barf Alert" next to the title would have been a signal.

So what do you think of Bush's and Powell's recent swipes? LOL!

"But as everyone knows, the left tolerates everything. As long as you don't disagree with them."

The more I think about the left tolerating everything, the more I think it is their way to power. When or if they get the power, their true nature will be shown. Then get ready for what you say about Islam, homosexuality, and womans rights, to be seen as a hate crime.

I agree with you on not reading the post. We know what it is about.

God Bless.

Isn't there a law in Canada now where preachers can't speak against sodomy?

In some ways I understood the principle. But I think they both violated it. If they are to stay out of religion, then stay out.

I am a constitutionalist, so I never saw either of them as totally conservative anyway.

I have a friend who documents everything non conservative regarding the GOP and he has taught me a lot.

I also worked for Ambassador Keyes, and he is, as you probably know, on the more conservative side than Powell and Bush.

Yes there is. The law is about a Bible passages being taught in public or in church that offend homosexuality. The fine can be $5000.00, or one year in jail I believe.

I'm one little 'terrorist' who can't wait till the next crusade. Might not be against the Muslims however.

It's my fault. I didn't know what a barf alert was, so I didn't add it. (Newbie here http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/787163/posts )

Someone else did, I guess a moderator. I am very thankful!!!!
