Do you remember when Soviet / Russian trawlers were not trawlers at all ? Perhaps there are some goodies on that craft ..

I saw soviet "trawlers" do better than 20 knots while trailing my ship in the med (late '70s-early '80s).

"Goodies". Maybe. But I can't really see why Cambodian thugs would be interested in obsolete com gear. You can't eat it, it probably has no resale value. And nowadays it probably really is an honest fishing trawler.

I have no idea why this piracy happened.

That's about as close to a sure bet as you are likely to get. If it were a intelligence-gathering "trawler",there would have been plenty of weapons-carrying hard boys on board to discourage boarders.

Agreed .. Some of those 'ole tugs are swift but I'm thinking maybe some of them have had some updates over the years . I figure if not then something new to another person is probably considered good stuff to them .

I've no idea but I did spy an update a few minutes ago . I'll take a peak after the hockey game tonight . Sorry for the extended delay Libkill .
