Be thankful.
If Al Gore was President, theyd be teaching schoolkids how to pronounce Qomolangma.

"British colonialists raped the sacred mountain of the Tibetans by giving it a false name,""Grab your ankles like a good lad, Qomolangma", said Lord Kitchener cheekily, "by the time I'm through with you, you'll be so tired that people will call you Ever-rest!"

Didn't Gore accept illegal contributions from Tibetan monks?
But most Tibetans not associated with Chinese officials render their name for the mountain as Chomolungma, meaning Mother of the World.

"British colonialists raped the sacred mountain of the Tibetans by giving it a false name,..."And China raped the Tibetan country and its people through "liberation" and gave it a false name: a province of China.
I am going to start calling Beijing by its old moniker, Peking!! Take that you Commie ba$tards!!!

Let me get this right. The British are guilty of a name infraction, but China is not guilty of occupation of certain regions to this day. I'm sure the British are feeling soooo guilty about now. LMAO
I'm sick and tired of people humoring the Chinese.

"British colonialists raped the sacred mountain of the Tibetans by giving it a false nameAs opposed to what China did to Tibet; raped the whole country and gave it a false history.

Amen brother! Amen!

It's their mountain. It's on their land.

I'll quit saying Mt. Everest when they quit saying flied lice.

I will agree to call Mt. Everest (named for the first person to climb the mountain- wonder why the Chinese couldn't match him- Qomolangma)if they will accept us calling China "Home of the Asiatic Bug Culture".

It's their mountain. It's on their land. It's also in Nepal, and their name, Sagarmartha, is a heck of a lot nicer.

Sagarmartha does sound better, but Tibet also calls it a variation of Qomolangma.

My dad flew over Everest a couple dozen times in the China-Burma-India Campaign to supply Allies fighting the Japanese Army in China. It will always be Everest as far as I'm concerned

GW is president though, so teachers will be teaching the pronounciation of Qomolangma.

But most Tibetans not associated with Chinese officials render their name for the mountain as Chomolungma. Not to be confused with Ungabunga.

Cartographers are happy for continued map changes. Maps are constantly being revised and it means cartographers have jobs. What will be the new name of Iraq?

'Sagar---martha, is a heck of a lot nicer"
Martha: "It's a good thing."
