Of course we need the Louisiana seat, but Bush has other options at his fingertips. Suppose he were to offer a cabinet position to Zell Miller. That leaves a senate vacancy with a Republican governor. +1 for GOP.

I don't think Zell Miller will ever leave his party to take a job in the Bush Administration. He has said he is too old now and would not leave the RATS at this point in his life. He really is a Republican - he just hasn't admitted it.
