George Clooney opposed to Iraq Strike (Get a load of his idiotic reasoning)
MSNBC.com ^ | 11/19/02 | Jeanette Walls

It sounds like George Clooney is opposed to invading Iraq. When a London Observer reporter asked about America’s actions post 9/11, he replied:

“We live on an island. A giant big f - - - ing island. We don’t understand that people actually get mad at us. We still think of ourselves in terms of WW2. It’s not uncommon for us to say to France, ‘Hey, you’d still be speaking German if it wasn’t for us.’ The problem is the world has changed, and our involvement in these tiny little places is different than it was in 1941. It was a lot clearer then. We were attacked.”

It’s not uncommon for us to say to France, ‘Hey, you’d still be speaking German if it wasn’t for us.’ The problem is the world has changed, and our involvement in these tiny little places is different than it was in 1941. It was a lot clearer then. We were attacked.”

Short History Lesson for Mr. Clooney:

1933: Hitler begins to rearm a dirt-poor and militarily "tiny" Germany in violation of the Versailles Treaty. Since France was "not attacked", France does nothing about it.

1940: Germany, transformed from 1933 to 1939 into the 800 pound military gorilla of Europe, conquers France.

1944: America liberates France.

2002: The French sip their wine and complain that America is "simplistic" in world affairs and does not know what it is doing. Idiots like Clooney, who learned History by watching Oliver Stone movies, agree with the French.

Pop Quiz:

It is January 2003. Iraq, in violation of U.N. mandates, is seeking to acquire nuclear weapons and delivery systems that will be able to reach Tel Aviv, eventually Paris and eventually the United States itself.

The United States should:

A. Follow the French example of 1933 and do nothing.
B. Kill the snake before it's nuclear fangs emerge.
C. Ask a Hollywood actor what to do.
D. Ask Al Gore what to do.

Well, Reagan was an actor... but he was a Republican. THAT is the difference, perhaps?

I'm sure if he translated his comments into English they would make a lot more sense.

Don't these "actors and actresses" know they alienate
over 100 million Americans, when they come out and say
stupid things like that? I use the term as actors
lightly when I mention Baldwin and Cooney.

Well, Reagan was an actor... but he was a Republican. THAT is the difference, perhaps?

After his 1940's and 1950's career as an actor, Ronald Reagan had a long track record as a political commentator and was Governor of California. Although his political views were ridiculed in some quarters, they proved to be correct and led directly to the fall of the Soviet Union, a milestone in modern history.

George Clooney, on the other hand, has a track record of......what?

Clooney's opinion on world affairs has as much value as the opinion of the cast of "Friends". It is only publicized because he is famous and popular for his acting roles and not necessarily because it can stand up to critical examination.

I do not believe that Clooney would do very well in a debate on his views with any of a large number of well informed FReepers.

And we were not attacked on September 11, 2001?

I have been shocked how many people are saying exactly what George C. said.. I had a good friend say the other day she hated to see us go to war because we have never gone to war unless we were attacked. I ask them, how many times would you want to see us attacked to call it an attack? They look at me like my Beagle does with those hound dog eyes with big question marks as to ask.. " We were attacked? When?

The difference is that Reagan was an actor who was elected president of his union, then Governor of California, then President of the United States.

My point is you don't know that Iraq was not involved in the September 11 atack.

But we have known that Iraq, and numerous other countries, have been supporting and harboring terrorists for over 30 years. We know they support the terrorists who have bombed our embassys and killed our troops. We had ample reason to wipe these countries off the map years ago. Or, we could simply get our nose out of their business. We have done neither. Now we have this "Homeland Security" farse.

And its been more than a year since 9/11/01. And there is still a question as to who was involved? Just like there is still a "question" as to middle eastern involvement in the OKC bombing. We knew who did it the day it happened. I'm sorry that people do not believe this.

It was not the US, but France and Russia that gave them the tools to go nuclear and biological - in other words to develop weapons of mass destruction.

And who did they get it from??????

Let's see. The Russians stole most of their nuclear technology from the US through espionage. The French nuclear program may have been, as they claim, largely homegrown.

The Russian biologic program was homegrown as well.

Why is the provenance of French and Russian technology relevant? The issue is that they were irresponsible enough to pass it on to Iraq.

Thank you. I'm so tired of those who speak as if Reagan accidentally wandered from the set of "Knute Rockne, All-American" into the West Wing one day and decided he liked it.

The man paid his professional and political dues for many years.

George Clooney's greatest accomplishment so far is being named People's Sexiest Man of the Year.

I'm with you. Hey, let's find out how Brittany Spears feels about war, shall we? (snort). That does it. I want ATLAS SHRUGGED made into a movie and I want all the actors to be computer animated. The real ones aren't worthy.

Sure Reagan was an actor, but he was in politics for over 25 years before he finally became President.

The Venona papers, kept by the KGB, make it abundantly clear that Oppenheimer and others involved in the Manhattan Project were members or fellow travelers of the Communist Party and were engaged in espionage for the Soviet Union.

Again, well-publicized information of which I am certain you are well aware.

China's theft of satellite technology is also well-documented.

Look, do you have a serious argument to make, are are you just here in the hopes that some of your lies and deceptions will take in uncritical FReepers?

My point is that an actor can be a good politician. Clooney never will be. Arnold Schwarzenegger might.

We live on an island. A giant big f - - - ing island. (Hmmmm...George we live in an age of intercontinental missles. Missle technology that was illegally transferred by the prior Administration. The Administration that the Hollywood limousine elites supported.)

We don’t understand that people actually get mad at us. (Ok George is this nation supposed to ignore those that threatened our national interests? Our nation's survival?)

We still think of ourselves in terms of WW2. It’s not uncommon for us to say to France, ‘Hey, you’d still be speaking German if it wasn’t for us.’ And much of the world has greatly benefitted from this nation defending their borders, feeding, sheltering their citizens, rebuilding their nation (i.e. Soviet Union, Germany, Japan))

The problem is the world has changed, and our involvement in these tiny little places is different than it was in 1941. HmmmmGeorge, these 'tiny little places' now possess weapons of mass destruction. These 'tiny little places' export terroism among the world's populace.)

It was a lot clearer then. We were attacked.”(Ok George, just what was the instances of Kholobar Towers? the bombed Embassies? USS Cole?, 1993 WTC bombing? OC Bombing? WTC 9-11? They are not to be considered attacks? Yes, George the world is much murkier nowadays, thanks in part to the elite leftist spew that emminates from the 'touchy-feely' collective Hollywood thought. Perhaps its not so clear as this nation has many eneimies within its ranks, within positions influence and power.)
