Wednesday, November 6, 2002 Posted: 8:16 PM EST (0116 GMT) SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (CNN) -- FBI agents arrested an 18-year-old man in Charleston, South Carolina, Wednesday who allegedly claimed to have kidnapped Elizabeth Smart and who was demanding $3 million for her return.

has anyone heard anything on e-liz? I have thought about this and I can't believe the American public just let it go... would not want it to be my relative.

The problem is that the scumbag who took her died. There is almost no hope of breaking the case so the short AS media is gone.

I have thought about this case for some time. I am wondering if she was kidnapped and sold to someone overseas as some sort of slave. If so, then there would be no ransom demanded. I do think that the guy who probably kidnapped her was the handyman who died. Just my hunch.

DAMN!  is there nothing that can be done?   E S looked to be such a great kid... if this happened to me or mine... well,.. you know.

In case anyone want to know my sudden interest.. I was at my mom's house when an apparent criminal tried to talk his way into the house with the old tired routine, "my kid is sick, I need a dollar for gas... rah, rah...  I ran him off the front porch because I told him to leave and he just sat down in a chair on the front porch like "he was at the end of his road and could not go a step further" bsbsbs... when he "realized" there were firearms in the house he bolted for his car, (still running... he was not THAT low on gas,) \he got to the car quick enough...   apparently he was not " that far gone."

Too bad someone was not armed and awake to confront the scum that got E.S., it should have just been a small footnote in HOME DEFENSE.... nothing more.  Now Elis is gone.

Sad... DAMN!

. . .could be wrong - it happens - but think the police did not handle this case well, from the very beginning - and perhaps at their request, the family ended up sending mixed messages/signals etc.

Think the handyman could have been arrested earlier; might have had more time to talk and investigate. As it was, think he died while they still referred to him only as a possible suspect. . .

I know this will sound crazy but here goes. Shortly after that Ricci guy was arrested, I had a very vivid dream concerning the where abouts of Elizabeth Smart. I've had dreams like that before. I don't claim to be a psychic or to understand why it happens. I wasn't really following the case that closely, but after that dream it really bothered me because it was so much like my true dreams.

Then, the Ricci guy mysteriously dies in prison and no more news on Elizabeth Smart. So this article caught my eye. In my dream she was alive but being held with some other young girls in a certain city in Penn. It may mean nothing, but it was a very strong dream.

This case was mentioned last week.....I can't remember by whom, it could have been Hannity, but not certain; anyways, he said that the man that died was obviously connected to the kidnapping...too many coincidences....parolee, worked at their house, extra unaccounted for mileage on his car, etc., and that he probably did this solo, dumping Elizabeth's body out in the desert, and anything known went with him to the grave.

How tragic for her family; it's just a terrible terrible thing.

well...Ricci is still to this day NOT named as a suspect, althought the cops say he is still at the top of their list of potential suspects....seems that they can't quite pin it on him as of yet....don't think they found any forensics or dna of his in the house...

would you all be surprised to know that there has been a running thread on the Smart case over these last few months.....it is in the backroom somewhere....it has really slowed down a lot but their are many of us still wanting to know what happened to the girl....

if anyone has any "dreams" or similar feelings..I think it would be helpful to at least air them out with the police....I personally don't know if this psychic stuff is real, but there are strange phenomenon that we do not understand yet.....
