does anyone know any references on the blast radius of a 100 kt nuke? PBS blast mapper only shows 1Meg.

100kt is pretty hefty. I'd want to be at least 10 miles away for that. It's hard to really know what the impact will be.. The flash blindness will be there, if you're looking directly at the blast. You may be able to hide your face, since nukes give of a 'double flash'.
You have the burn and the blast to worry about. The higher the yield, the more the blast is a concern.
Overall, duck and cover isn't such bad advice.

Oh, one other thing..
Even a 20kt blast in DC or NYC will cause a firestorm that will reach out many, MANY miles more than the initial effects. There won't be any firemen. Or any police.
Everything combustable will burn for a long time, and collapse, and be utterly wrecked. That's probably the biggest concern, the fires.
