Hi all, and thanks TONS for your helpful offers of help! :D

I spent all day yesterday, and into the wee hours of the morning doing a tutorial on making webpages, basically learning html. I was quite surprised to learn that all you need for making webpages is lil' ole Notepad, and a command of html!

But, what it doesnt tell me is what address to use. Should I simply use the domain name, or should I use the control panel address??

I have a program called Web Publishing Wizard. Will that upload (ftp) a bunch, or is it limited to one page? Do I need to set my pc for anything else?

If I want my page to work well with netscape, do I have to use netscape tags, or will it interpret regular html?

Making the pages isn't a big problem since I use the web page making function of word. It's a lot of point and click, so when you view the source code, it's already there. Should I save the file as text, or html? Do I upload it as text or html, or does Web Publishing Wizard take care of that issue automatically?

:)

Think I better freep someone lol!

PL

Uhoh, I think you know more than I. :)

HTML can be recognized by all browsers..

I can't answer you about the domain name. I just remember the index as being the main page..the first page that was written. Any other pages were extras...most often linked to from the index page which was also called http://www.sas-aim.org/ aka the domain name..

I don't know anything about webpublishing wizard. I do all the html from scratch..with notepad by the way! lol Or I copy and paste the code and modify it to make it unique for my webpage.

To be able to use the code as a webpage, you'll have to save the files as .html files. You can check the webpage with your browser before you upload it. Just make note of what file you save the webpage under, and then open it from your IE or netscape. For example, the file could read like the following:
file:///C:/Memorial/index.html

you would put that file address in the locator bar of your browser and press enter.
Note the slashes point in a different direction? That's telling the browser that the file is on your harddrive and not on the website.

It's good to make sure the code works on both browsers. There are some creative codes with won't work on IE but will on netscape and visa versa. (Not too many, not too common..) Once you are satisfied with the results of the code you made..then you go ahead and upload it.

I have a feeling you may not need my help..especially if you already have an idea of what to do. I can try to answer any questions though..just freepmail me. :)
