Update from Prairie Lady 11-16-2002:

"Good morning!
I just got off the phone with my BIL (10am mountain time). It seems that the local police are only just now beginning to take information, and none of them has done any of the foot work that he himself has done. He was visited this moring by the police and he gave them all the information that HE had available.

They would not tell him whether or not there were any recent prison escapees, but we did find some articles in the paper showing that there were some out of Kentucky, and that they DID end up in Conway, SC...where the walmart is that my sister was going to. There were several breakins and robberies the same day that Alice dissappeared.

BIL called the FBI office in Columbia. Phone number is: 803-551-4200. The secretary there said they don't handle missing persons. He explained to them that this crime has crossed state lines and also involves fraud. The secretary still wouldn't hear him. He said she was VERY rude!

He said he has to deal with the Horry County Law enforcement because his residence is not within any city limits. Because Alice's case was put into the National Crime Data base is the only reason they are getting involved AT ALL!!! It seems they are kicking back and letting him do all the leg work

We (her sisters, family and friends) can't believe this, and are devastated thinking our sister could be tied to a tree somewhwere and NOBODY (ie law enforcement) is even Looking for her!!!!!!!!! The weather has been overcast and raining.

Needless to say, frustration level is high.

More just now from Prairie Lady:

and Prairie Lady just wrote:

"got this email from my mom just a few minutes ago:

Gloria called the "Horry County Police" who are handling this...the # is 1-843-248-1521 ..... They wern't very helpful. But tho it wasn't in his notes he thought he heard in passing that the atm was used again in Little River, S. Carolina...but he couldn't be positive on it...he had nothing in writing. They are also handling the fugitive case. He told Gloria there's nothing they can do until more evidence shows up. She said...why aren't you out there investigating it ? He says no one from that department works on the weekends!! Soooo, what paper work is done, is now sitting on a closed desk till Monday ? And he said the two guys haven't been found either.

Carol just called and gave me the same # as Gloria except the last four #'s are 1520. Barry stopped the money flow... no way of knowing now where shes at. No money Trail. But, no way to know if she is with them or not anyway.
Sally isn't going either. Let me know what you have found out."

Unbelievable how callous they can be! I guess they don't see anything in it for them. Will certainly keep praying.

Prayer ping for any of y'all who haven't seen this.

North Carolina has a searchable database for escaped prisoners here. Kentucky's inmate search is here. Their most wanted list here. Very much just "for what it's worth" info right now, but hope it helps somehow.
