Missing Adult, HELP NEEDED (crime in progress?) [SC]
Missing Adult family member -- thread on TimeBomb2000 Forum ^ | 11/15/02 | Prairie Lady

Posted on 11/15/2002 12:02:43 PM PST by Cascadians

This is an urgent plea for help from Prairie Lady; these are her posts: [copied]

I JUST got off the phone with my neice. It seems my sister (her mother) is missing since yesterday between 3pm and 4:40pm yesterday from the SouthCarolina area.

She headed north as far as we can track, but then nothing. This is TOTALLY uncharacteristic of her.

We need to know if she is on her own willingly making decisions, or if she has been abducted and is in need of help. Is there anybody from that area that can help?
----------------------

ok, she spoke to hubbie from home via phone about 3 pm yesterday afternoon. She left home at that time saying she was headed for her local walmart near Aynor South Carolina..I don't know the exact town...maybe conroe or something? She never made it to walmart. Survaliance tapes show she never went in there. She withdrew some money from the bank locally. She put gas in her car at the north carolina / south carolina state line (cherry creek). She withdrew a BUNCH of money in Raliegh Durham North Carolina. She spoke to her daughter at 4:30 saying she was going christmas shopping and that she would be late. But she never made it home.

If she had any inclinations to leave home, she never indicated it, and she would NOT be heading NORTH!!

She is 5'7 inches tall, LONG legs, 150 lbs, has very short medium brown hair. lots of freckels, hazel eyes. Driving a Dark Blue BMW 4 door with a mini antennea on the driver's side on the post between the door and the windshield, licence plate # 845HLG
----------------------
Go ahead and post it at freeps..thanks
----------------------

My brother in law is former military police. He made a call to the police and is tracking bank usage which is showing itself to be very abnormal such as numerous attempts to use the various cards but rejects due to wrong pin numbers. He's requested survalance tapes from the banks as well. She was supposed to go to walmart, but walmart survaliance tapes show she never made it there. So, hes compiling stuff to show that something IS very wrong.

Also, she talked to her daughter AFTER one of the cash drafts and said someting weird to her daughter...like I love you...and she NEVER says that to THAT daughter.

Anyway, I didn't want to put all this on the boards...

This is too weird.

I don't know for a fact, because I really don't have any first hand knowledge from the horses mouth as to what a person's true motive is. But aside from that, unless the attorneys are new at their jobs, they had to have at least SOME idea of what the implications were of what they were doing....I would think anyway.

If it were ME doing that, well then you could be sure I was trying to be helpful, but dunderheads like me don't make it thru law school lol!!! And I DO believe that the prosecution WANTS the perps to have GOOD legal representation. They do NOT want fubars to come back and bite them in the rump later.

Since the charges are rather indefensible (bank/walmart video), about the best a defense lawyer CAN do is fubar the entire case. Basham talked without talking apparently. That is, he ran his mouth and said some words, but who knows the real truth? I can't say he lied, because Alice is obviously dead, and he DID admit to killing her.

But then on the other hand, what becomes of an attorney who gets thrown off a death sentence case?????? Surely they know that too. Maybe they didn't count on the prosecution calling them on what they did??? It would be nice to have the opportunity after all is said and done to ask them what they were really thinking.

Sorry..all I can do is surmise... :(

One FReeper offered me the use of her map program, and to whomever it was...I apologize profusely for not having gotten back with you after my attempts to use it.

That FReeper was me :) The program is still available if you're still interested.

Another prayer being sent.

JELLYBEAN!!!! Thank you - Thank you!!!

I am *REALLY* sorry! I don't know...I logged into the program one day, and tried plugging in coordinates, but during my attempts, I was feeling like I was messing up what you'd already done. Again...please forgive me.

I really think if you are able to plug in the info which I've drawn out on paper, it could give us all something to study. Please, let me know if you have some time, and I will send you what I've got over here.

Thank you so much Jellybean!! :)

Don't worry about messing anything up that I've done. I was just trying to figure something out. Anything that is there now isn't important--it can be reconstructed if I need it.

If you need the log-in name and password again, Freepmail me.

I've been having computer problems myself lately - finally got a new computer yesterday so hopefully things will improve. Not being able to access FR or accessing it without being able to post is very frustrating!

Here's a prayer BUMP for Wednesday night.

S.C. judge removes defense lawyers from missing woman case
Associated Press

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Two defense attorneys have been removed from the case of a missing Gallivants Ferry woman after federal prosecutors said they could have been called to testify at their client's trial.

The U.S. attorney's office said a lawyer for Branden Basham, who is accused of helping abduct Alice Donovan in November, offered some information from Basham to try and help authorities find the woman.

Federal Judge Joe Anderson ruled Wednesday that Columbia lawyer Cam Littlejohn and Myrtle Beach attorney Billy Monckton had acted ethically, but they could no longer represent 21-year-old Basham.

"By relaying the details of Basham's statement to law enforcement agents, they were acting in the best interest of their client, in a sincere effort to help locate the body and ultimately gain whatever benefit could be derived from that event for their client," Anderson wrote.

But "out of an abundance of caution, this court finds it appropriate to remove Littlejohn and Monckton from this case," the judge wrote.

Basham and his co-defendant, Chadrick Fulks, 25, face federal charges of kidnapping and carjacking resulting in death even though Donovan's body has never been found. Prosecutors still are deciding whether to seek the death penalty.

The pair escaped from a Kentucky jail in early November and were charged later in a five-state crime spree. Police say Donovan was kidnapped in November from a Wal-Mart near Myrtle Beach.

Basham has given four accounts of what happened.

Most recently, Basham said through his lawyers that Fulks raped and strangled Donovan, put her body in the trunk of her 1994 BMW, slit her throat and dumped her remains near a Winnabow, N.C., cemetery.

Agents could find no physical evidence to substantiate that account. Prosecutors may want to use the statement to show that Basham falsely blamed Fulks.

Further complicating the issue, Basham has said he did not tell his lawyers they could provide that account to the FBI. Yet Basham said he wanted to keep Littlejohn and Monckton.

Basham will get new lawyers
Judge: Change mandated out of 'abundance of caution'
By Kenneth A. Gailliard
The Sun News

A new pair of lawyers must be appointed for one of two men charged in the November abduction of a Galivants Ferry woman, a federal judge ruled Wednesday.

Judge Joseph P. Anderson disqualified Branden Basham's original lawyers, Cameron Littlejohn and Billy Monckton, "out of an abundance of caution," according to a court document.

Scott Schools, assistant U.S. Attorney, said the ruling will allow the case to advance.

The process was stalled, he said, until the lawyer issue could be resolved. Schools could not say when new lawyers might be appointed.

Once appointments are made, his office will file a report with the U.S. Attorney General's Office to seek death-penalty consideration.

Prosecutors from the U.S. Attorney's Office asked the court in a hearing last week to disqualify the lawyers and argued that a statement Little-
john made to police could make him a witness against his client.

Defense lawyers at that hearing said the lawyers couldn't be called as witnesses against their client and that the statement referred to was given in a hypothetical context.

Police suspect Basham and his co-defendant, Chadrick Fulks, a pair of escapees from a Kentucky jail, of kidnapping Alice Donovan from the parking lot of Wal-Mart in Conway on Nov. 14.

Her whereabouts remain unknown, despite several trips to the Horry County and Brunswick County, N.C., areas to help police search for her body.

Discussion about removing Basham's lawyers from the case began after Basham made one of those trips Thanksgiving Day.

While police were searching, he allegedly gave Littlejohn a version of what he and Fulks did with Donovan. Littlejohn passed the information to police.

That version said Fulks raped Donovan in her car's back seat, then strangled her with a strap off her purse, the court document said.

Her body was placed in the trunk, and they drove a distance before Fulks stopped the car, opened the trunk and slashed Donovan's throat. Her body was then dumped near a cemetery, according to the statement.

In his ruling, Anderson said, Littlejohn and Monckton acted in their client's best interest by relaying information to police.

"This court would not hesitate to appoint them again in any death-penalty case," he said.

I have NO idea where these attorneys are from. None whatsoever. I don't know if they are local to SC, or if they were imported in from some other state.

Court cases ARE a matter of public record, but if it causes problems to have this info here, we can stop posting it here, and I can post news updates at my forum instead.

Velveeta,

I took www.alicedonovan.com down for renovation. I couldn't edit it and so I am having to redo the whole thing. If there is Anybody here who can help me, I am a complete total novice at webpages. I sure could use some help. I can build one page, but i need more than one page, and don't know how to link them, and code the buttons for good navigation. Then, I don't know how to load what I build. Then I need to put the forum back there (hope i haven't destroyed it).

Can anybody help me???

Thanks, PL
