As a mom of a five year old girl, I would tend to think that shrew is a bit harsh for Ms Mulkin. To me, she just sounds like a mom who is disgusted that her 2 year old gets to see a mostly naked Christina Aguilera in line at the grocery store, and just as disgusted that A LOT of girls just a few years older than her toddler are emulating this barely-over-18 naked chick as much as possible.

Example - you wouldn't believe the trouble I had this fall trying to find clothes for my daughter, who is, as I mentioned, FIVE. Everything is short-waisted, low-hipped, high-heeled, and if it isn't, it says something oh so cute like "brat" or "princess" or "bad girl." Did I mention she is five?

Picking and choosing through half a dozen stores eventually netted some results, but the overall outlook on young girls remaining so through adolescence these days is grim. Thank God for homeschooling.

I usually like the stuff she writes. All the name calling and nastyness in the article turned me off though. What is the point of it? Is pop culture going to change because Michelle thinks Christina is a "skank".

Since Ms. Malkin and her daughter and you and your daughter are obviously not the demographic that Ms. Aguilera is trying to sell to, wouldn't it be easier to simply ignore her and go on about you business?

I realize the need to call a "skank" a "skank" is a powerful one within the female psyche, I just expected better from Ms. Malkin.

Don't get my started on the clothes issue. I have a very hard time finding clothes for my just turn 6 year old twin girls. They end up getting the same clothes because I can't find enough variety to get them different outfits.

I couldn't find anything at Mervyn's, Sears, or Macy's.

I finally had good luck at the Osh Kosh Outlet, and I bought a jumper for a Christmas dress at Gymboree.

If you don't mind the expense, Land's End, LL Bean and Talbot's Kids all carry very nice clothing for girls. Shoes, too.

Regards,

PS: I know how you feel about trying to buy decent clothes; it's just as hard for the boys.
