I used to think this also. I think these things (except the left, that really is a huge and present danger) will, in the end, be the things that give us strength.

True -- but we didn't think New Yorkers had the guts they showed after 9/11, either. Catastrophe, and survival, has a way of steeling a nation's back, and heart. A strong leader also figures into the equation.
