Zell Miller is the antidote for the Lincoln Chaffe virus.
To: The Raven
Duly noted and apparently the only dim that makes any sense. He cut taxes while he was governor here. I hope he continues to work with the president.
And why doesn't the national press clamour for conversations with Zell like they did with McCain when he dissented and caused the Republicians problems.
To: The Raven
We lost the Senate, big. Why? To start with, we didn't get anything done
I think Zell is being gracious to include himself in the we.
He could also have added that in a time when we desperately need good common sense judges, little Tommy Dasshole was so disappointed in the nominees that he and Sen. Leahy just had to hold them up. If Zell is smart, he switches parties next week.

... And why in Heaven's name can't our party be for real tax cuts? ...
Why indeed. Please, steal this issue. I would love nothing more than a bidding war about the breadth, depth, and scope of the next round of tax cuts.

Zell Miller is the only spokesman the Democrats have who is even in mainstream America. All the more reason to think his party will take a pass rather than embrace his sound advice. Its too much for the hard core Left that runs today's Democratic Party to swallow.

Walking dead man alert... LOL!
Hitlery's probably already putting Zell's name on the "The List".
To: The Raven
Zell's problem is that he's a loyal man, but he's loyal to a party's thats completely abandoned what it used to believe in. I agree with almost everything Zell mentioned, but there isn't a chance in hell of the liberal/leftists Democrats doing any of it. Actually I especially liked his part about moving the bloated argument from DC and giving control back the states and local groups. People know how to run their own lives better than some DC bureacrat.

"Why couldn't we Democrats push to spread the massive government bureaucracy now concentrated in Washington, D.C., out around the whole nation, saving money and bringing jobs to America at the same time?"/ Here is one thing that truly separates Democrats from Republicans. While I mostly like Zell Miller I resent the notion that we need to spread big government into all of America where it would only have room to grow and control our lives.
The US Government is already outside its bounds, trashing the Constitution in many areas and unyeilding in its policies of taking from the taxpayers much more than it needs. Why in the world would we want it to get comfortable in places where its potential to grow unfettered would lead to further restrictions on the people?

"By new, I do not mean becoming the antiwar party at a time when our nation's security is threatened in a way that it has never been before."
On the other hand, Democrats were certainly not anti-war during the Clinton years when he pushed for interventions in Somalia, Haiti and Bosnia. How come I didn't see massive anti-war protests for those campaigns? Maybe because they were not critical to our nation's security?

What the Demoncrats need to embrace is America instead of loving themselves so damn much. The Democrat Party under the Clintons, Gores and MacCauliffes have sunken to an all time low.

Zell Miller is a Deomcrat I could vote for...only because he doesn't sound like, act like, nor has the beliefs of a Democrat.
Face it, Zell. Your party has left you. (no pun intended)

Note too that while conservative talk show hosts across the country support the President's issues on taxes and homeland security the democrats' spokepeople are insisting the tax cuts be reversed and the homeland security bill NOT be passed.
Even if the dem leaders support the President their representatives in the media continue bashing the President's tax cuts and homeland security position.
It seems to me the media has become the biggest obstacle to the dem's getting a new message out.......and HOW SWEET IT IS!

America is the most tax-averse country on earth Wrong. We are the most government averse .
We want to be left alone to pursue our private lives. That means getting liberals out of our wallets and conservatives out of our bedrooms.

Democrat Senator: "Our Party Needs To Embrace Tax Cuts. . ."Zell Miller, you are too reasonable a man to remain in the pathetic Democratic Party. Please come out from them and save yourself from disgrace. You would be effective as a Republican.

This is more New Deal/LBJ-style junk that never worked to begin with.

the Democratic Party could follow that other inflexible party of groups, the Whigs, into the dustbin of history. As Homer Simpson would say, "Whoo-hoo!"
