I agree that Pelosi would be a bad choice for the Dems, but I am cautiously optimistic. I remember in 1998 that many of my conservative Republican friends were going to vote for Gray Davis in the open primary because they thought he was the weakest candidate. Nothing more needs to be said.

He was the weakist. The Repubs just happen to find somebody who was even weaker to run against him.
