The districting was an attempted power grab by LIBERAL democrats. In some cases, such as the senate leader's district, they put the black senate majority leader in a district with a white conservative senator. Then reshaped the district so that it would have enough black voters to get rid of the white conservative democrat.

But the white conservative senator, Cheeks, stunned everyone by winning anyway. A HUGE UPSET!! he was the first to get revenge and switch.

I ran across this item a few minutes ago. The Georgia story is full of ironies and paybacks.

Ralph Reed scores three out of four

In the September Freedom Writer we listed some of Ralph Reed's clients through his political consulting company, Century Strategies. Among them were Governor Fob James of Alabama; Sen. Richard Shelby, of Alabama; Sen. Paul Coverdale, of Georgia; and Rep. Jay Dickey, of Arkansas.

At that time, we asserted that Gov. James faced a possible defeat. He, indeed, lost. His loss was also a big defeat for Ralph Reed. In other races, we correctly predicted an easy victory for Sen. Shelby and Rep. Jay Dickey. In Sen. Paul Coverdale's tight race, Reed pulled off a victory. Coverdale's reelection bid was an important one, particularly since Reed needed to win this one in order to bolster his credibility.

It is widely acknowledged that Ralph Reed hopes to manage the campaign for the Republican presidential nominee in the 2000 election. Even with a generally poor Republican showing in 1998, Reed's outlook still looks pretty good.

You're right, and I'm not trying to bust your chops, just observing that sometimes, we're too polite for our own good. Another facet of this is that we need more Ann Coulters, David Horowitz's, Michelle Malkins, who will get in people's faces about issues and not back down. Instead, we have Trent Lott as Majority Leader.

This discussion is totally out of context. Georgia legislative politics was totally controlled by Murphy & Barnes, who are out finally. Some of these guys were democrats in name only.

If people don't like what their representative/senator does in Georgia there is always recall....
