I have serious doubts that this is Osama. There is no mention of the recent capture of his wife, and possibly, his son.

Voice on Tape Said to Be Al Gore

(2002-11-12) -- In an audiotaped message aired Tuesday, a voice purported to be that of Al Gore praised Democrat gubernatorial victories in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Illinois and threatened Republicans against attacking Democrats while they're in the minority in Congress.

If Mr. Gore's voice is authenticated, his references to recent events would be the clearest indication yet that the political mastermind is still alive.

The speaker on the tape referred to the events of November 5, saying the victories in three state governor races were "won by sons of Democracy who are zealous in the defense of their party," and he called George W. Bush "the Pharaoh of our age."

U.S. intelligence officials were evaluating the tape to verify if the voice was Mr. Gore's, according to officials in Washington who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Government officials have not verified Mr. Gore's whereabouts this month. The last evidence Mr. Gore was alive was a photo of him giving a speech in California late September. However, some experts who have seen the photo say it doesn't prove he was alive.

I found the reference to W as "pharoah" interesting. Beyond the literal reference, it could also be a call to the Egyptian Islamic Jihad and to Sheik Abdel Rahman (he of the 1993 WTC bombing) and his Islamic Group.
