Not all Muslims want to kill people. Just as there are many Christians, Jews, etc., that do not abide by all that they are told, so too are there many Muslims. Yes, fortunately there are many Muslims who do not abide by the Islamic doctrine and do not emulate example of the desert robber prophet.
One the other hand the fact that there are many Christians who do not abide by the teaching of Christ is unfortunate.
Abiding is good or bad depending on the given rules or teaching. It is good to abide by the rules of just law but it is bad to abide by the rules of criminal organisation.

On one hand, if there were no organised religions, then bad things would not be done in the name of God. On the other hand, there exists those people that want to do bad things, and use religions as justification.
