Of course, it must be obvious that this is the right stand--the only stand that men of honor could possibly take. Let us hope that the Left and their Feminist allies continue their assault. Let us hope that they pull out all the stops and become totally obnoxious--no great stretch for that crew. It is through such unreasoned assaults upon traditional values and elemental fairness that we have the best chance to wake up the sleeping majority, who have been cowed or hypnotized into going along with the egalitarian cult that has challenged American freedom for three generations.

This controversy is an opportunity for Conservatives. Let us make the most of it!

NOW is not a feminist organization (except for the Dulles branch), It is an arms of th Democratic party ready to fight for select wealthy women.

Perhaps the media has misrepresented NOW. But where is NOW support of the one surviving victim in the horrible Carr brothers case?

Where is NOW when designers push sexists clothes and harmful high heels on women? Where is NOW when week after week we get reports of rich athletes rape or otherwise abuse women and get off?

Seems to me NOW is involved in few of the feminists causes. Their main concern seems to be membership in a PRIVATE, ultra-expensive country club. NOW is ending up looking ridiculous and only alienating the average woman.

Start with the 68 member-campuses of the Women's College Coalition. Such schools as Barnard, Mount Holyoke and Smith offer top drawer, liberal arts instruction. Men need not apply.

With 296 chapters in America, Canada, Mexico and England, the Junior League's active, dedicated associates perform community service projects. Its website explains that they also "share ideas and build networks for information exchange" when they gather. There are some 193,000 Junior League members - not one of them male. Women even have their own golf course, albeit abroad. Since its 1924 launch, the Ladies Golf Club of Toronto has had only female members. As Sports Illustrated's Rick Reilly discovered, men may play there, but only when invited by members. Women sneered at Reilly, who was stunned by the separate but unequal amenities for male guests: a poorly appointed locker room and a gravel-covered parking lot behind the clubhouse. "This joint makes Augusta seem like the ACLU," Reilly wrote in SI's September 16 edition.

The vital principle here is freedom of association. As the First Amendment states, "Congress shall make no law...abridging...the right of the people peaceably to assemble." These words reflect the right of Americans to associate privately with whomever we wish, and not with others, for whatever reason.
