General Patton once said, "... we should thank God that such men lived." and, indeed, I do. When I think of the contributions this country has made to the world, in particular the advances of the past century, none, not one, can compare to the sacrifices made by America's armed forces and their families. So, today as we remember and honor those who fell on the field of battle, let us also say a prayer for the mothers, fathers, wives, and children who bore the pain of their sacrifice throughout the years.
When I close my eyes at night it is with a sense of security for me and mine because our dedicated men and women are watching the gate as we sleep.
I thank each of them for the great and unselfish gift they have given the world. "All is well, Safely rest, God is nigh." God Bless America and all her veterans.
Thank you for taking the time to post your thoughts. Reading comments like yours lets us vets know that it wasn't all for nothing.
I woke up this morning to hear my favorite Billy Ray Cyrus song on the radio, "Some Gave All"
All gave some,
Some gave all.
Some stood true
For the red white and blue,
And some had to fall.
If you ever think of me,
Think of all your liberties,
And recall,
Some gave all.
