Steyn is great, I agree. He misunderestimated W.
One thing struck me in reading about W. He has been portrayed as only a party boy at Yale. Doubtless he had a good time. One observation struck me. He was extremely good at sizing up a person and making hilarious remarks about him. I have never doubted W.'s intelligence. His speaking was once horrible, but he learned fast. His father never did. I think his ability to size up people and say such funny things was an early glimmer of his intuition and intelligence. Someone at the time said he was hiding his intelligence.
Now looking at what W. accomplished in Texas and then just now, he is rapidly becoming a young Reagan, not a Junior bush.
Many strong leaders move on and the opposition takes over in the vacuum. W. moved on and the revolution continued. That is pretty amazing.

What's interesting to note is that there is another successful "party boy" that did poorly in an Ivy League school.
All he did was play poker!
His name is Bill Gates.

Steyn is great, I agree. He misunderestimated W.So did I. I've been impatient with the president for not moving more aggressively against Iraq and Iran. But there appears to be a providential timing to the way things have worked out. Almost as if he had turned to God for guidance and been told, "Be patient and do these things in accordance with My timing." It's quite remarkable how beautifully things have worked out. Now it isn't just President Gary Cooper cleaning up Dodge while the storekeepers cower, but rather the whole world community is lined up behind right action. And that has very important and positive ramifications for the post-Saddam order of things.
