The Democrats' reindeer armies are going home.

It turns out that the Democrats' turnout miracle that painted half the country blue in the 2000 election was, after all, a miracle. Democratic National Committee chairman Terry McAuliffe had so convinced himself that the Florida 2000 tie was the result of something real that he poured millions of Hollywood's box-office receipts into the state to burn down the Bush brothers. Jeb's win was the biggest rout in the contested elections.

How long did any serious Democrat think it would be possible, in the 21st century, to win elections by BALLOT FRAUD, inciting a voting riot among blacks, unionists, teachers and Greens? The politics of frenzy and FRAUD has to tire you eventually, something it looks like we all learned in the days following the historic Wellstone memorial riot. That's the day, it appears, the music died for the Democrats.

If the Democrats try to claim the middle it will allow the Republicans to move the debate to the right. The aging 60s folks are fading in importance and, by all indications, the x-gen crowd is decidely more conservative than their parents were.

Much of the Democrats' current donor base sits in Hollywood and upper Manhattan, laughing over dinner at how dumb George Bush is. Well, better dumb than dumber. Late Tuesday, Terry McAuliffe concluded, "Tonight was a good night for Democrats."

LOL! And Terry, may you and the Dems have many more such "Good nights"

or read the sort of bilious letters from the left recently described by New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof ("Dick Cheney is a maggot . . .")

Does anyone have a link to this column?

(And no, I don't want to register with the NYTimes and give them my life history in order to be able to read it on their site.)

I have to laugh when I compare the situation the Democrats are in, to a line in Shakespere's "Taming Of The Shrew". At the end, one of the lead characters-Petruchio, tells everyone: "I have fought the battle you have yet to fight, so being the winner, I bid you goodnight!".(at least in the 1967 movie) Just a humorous comparison for you all!

The Republicans, in a sense, had to bring their party back from Watergate, then again after impeachment, then after losing Jim Jeffords. Now, the Democrats will have to do the same. Let's see if they now can bring their party back!

It works better to search on one or two keywords, for instance "reindeer" finds it, rather than on the entire title.

If the democrats can't race bait enough to get out the black vote in droves they are finished.

emains to be seen how long they can scare them with "Jim Crow and Lynching are coming back " etc etc

I doubt blacks will ever really move to the GOP in the near term but they will probably just stay home like they did in FLA this time
