Excellent report; I'd only make one correction:

"Don Siegelman is lying... when his lips are moving!"

Siggie and Algore and butt buddies. In fact, if I remember right, they were to have dinner right after the 2000 election and had to put it off as Algore was in Florida suing everyone in sight. He is a Algore / Klinton buttkisser.

Siegelman was endorsed by Charlton Heston of the NRA....you can believe that carried some weight in Alabama...it made me sit up and take notice.

Made me sit up and take notice, too, mad as hell about it and glad I contributed directly to candidates and not to an NRA fund. I got even madder on the day before the election when I received in the mail a large card having the NRA logo and all appearances of having come from the NRA, supporting Siegelman and including a picture of Heston's letter. Fine print covered by the postmark showed it came from the Siegelman campaign. NRA really needs to reconsider the policy of automatically endorsing any incumbent just because he has not pushed gun control.

replying to myself with a question -- did that mailing go to everyone or did NRA give Siegelman the membership mailing list? Pi$$ed off NRA member wants to know.

How could anyone in Alabama doubt the veracity of radio hosts Rick and Bubba?

If you listened to those two during the 9/11/01 show, you would understand what outstanding Christian men these two are. They are conservative and make no bones about it on their radio show. They are what you call good ole red neck conservatives. But the "Good" stands tall and clear. They are church members, married fathers, and funny. But they are above all a class act. They have been around for around 10 years as the top rated morning crew (at various stations).

I never received any such letter, so it probably went out to the NRA mailing list. I used to be an NRA member but resigned some years ago over exactly this sort of garbage concerning an NRA endorsement in a congressional race. What's really bad about this is that Riley also has a 2nd amendment record that he can cite from his time in congress, so the least the NRA should have done is either offer no endorsement or recommend both of them.

Just to set the record straight, I meant no disrespect for Rick and Bubba! After seeing the strength of support they have from Alabama Freepers, I only wish I could get their program in Virginia.

Yeah, My memory isn't so hot but I could have sworn that Siggie DID have dinner with Gore at Gore's residence right at a crucial point of that recount shenanigans episode. Don't remember details but he's tight with Goron. Yeah, when Siggie started saying he won yesterday and will win tommorrow and started talking about what he was going to do - tax corporations more, go with slush fund lotter, I almost upchucked a brownie I was eating. The guy even sounds a tad like Clinton.

Great to hear. Maybe there is some hope for the future. I have been trying to find an actual complete list of votes on the 1964 Civil Rights Act for a local talk host. He tells folks that more Republicans voted for the Act than Democrats but they never believe him. He wants to paste a copy on his web site. I have only found partial lists and totals thus far.

This seems to be the M.O. for liberal Democrats to win in the South. Siegelman, Warner in Virginia, and now Bredesen in Tennessee. We as Southerners have got to stop letting them pull the wool over too many people's eyes.

Verrry interesting. Today's Birmingham News ran this photo (on page 10A by the way). However, what is interesting is that they somehow managed to crop the picture so that the "BALLOTS CAST - TOTAL" row is eliminated. This tends to make it look like bugsy legitimately had 19,070 votes - gee, after all the computer printout says so. I'm sure it was just an innocent coincidence.............

Forgot to add a disclaimer. My wife buys the Thursday edition of the News in order to scope out Friday's yard sales. Don't want anyone getting the wrong impression. }8^D

And that is why this picture has been SAVED on my hard drive now. No way a cropped version of this will become the "official" photo.

Durn good post, I noticed the very same thing today myself. I also saved the photo. They are "TRYING" to hide the truth and you had the great ability to see through it.

Thank you Commish for a wonderful post with picture. It was the best post I have read all week. Dang I love this place...
