CBS New York...Bubonic Plague in NYC???

As the CBS local News broadcast was signing off to go to the National news at 6:30 tonight ...they announced..."This just in....2 people in New York City hospital with symptoms of BUBONIC PLAUGE"! N0 detail yet.........

Plague causes fever and a painful swelling of the lymph glands called buboes, which is how it gets its name. The disease also causes spots on the skin that are red at first and then turn black.

This was on an earlier report on wabc tv, also. It is a husband and wife from NM, if I recall. They are visiting in NY. Both hospitalized. Husband was doing worse. His temp had gone up to 105.

Don't panic. The symptoms of a New York leftist getting a massive dose of GOP plauge and Bubonic are very similar. Liberal doctors can easily mis-diagnose.

NM and CO occassionally get plague cases...usually from groundhogs....no need for the tinfoil or shower alerts here...

Not much cause to worry. This is a not extremely uncommon infection in the mountain tates.

Now, pneumonic plague is something quite contagious and a real source of worry.

(New York-WABC, November 6, 2002) — Two patients at a New York City hospital may have a dangerous disease not seen in decades. Eyewitness News has learned that doctors at Beth Israel Medical Center are caring for the two people, who have symptoms of the Bubonic plague. While doctors are awaiting final tests to confirm the pair is suffering from the deadly disease, the possibility caused a medical scare among health care officials.
