That would be the cretin Lautenburg. What a repulsive jerk. He will resign in January or so, and showing what a sham the election in NJ really was about.

Having FR to supplement Fox News.

Having DU have to turn off its message forum.... Can you elaborate on that?

Clerks get $6 an hour. I think I get the same - knowing my county though, I won't see a penny for 6 months or more ;)
Believe me though, I didn't do it for the money. I even used up a vacation day from work to get the time off. Around my house, politics is a contact sport and I wanted the experience of being a judge.
I had a blast!

Watching Chris Matthews and his HARDBALL Crew totally FREAK OUT..... All those bozos were peeing in their pants. It was a sight to see.....And watching giddy Peggy Noonan chide Donna Brazil. Have to say ol' Peggy was cracking me up!

The end of the Kennedy dynasty. Not quite. We've still got Massachusett's fattest fossil and his nephew representing Rhode Island.

While Carville was wearing the trashcan hat, one of the Crossfire team asked Paul Begala "So who do the Democrats have left to run in 2004, besides Al Sharpton?" Begala let out a loud guffaw at that visual before he regained his composure.

Watching Matt Lauer start his interview with Daschle saying that he must feel disappointed.
Fashion note: It was Matt's turn to be dressed in black.

Seeing our new senator, Jim Talent, give his acceptance speech. Talent is a good and upright man, somebody we can put our confidence in and be proud of. He's in his mid-40s and should be able to hold this seat for a long time.

This resident of NJ loves that a conceding and upbeat Doug Forrester said "well I DID promise to retire Torricelli!" :)

It happened today; the look of 6-week old constipation on Terry's face, as he tried to spin last night in favor of the Dims. Also, the petulence and ungraciousness of his tone. You know that display didn't boost any confidence in him, by the losers.

that
does raise an important point. the one thread that was sorely missing this morning -- perhaps because the keyboards this morning were just
TOO LOUD, DAMMIT! -- was a thread on fast and effective hangover cures. i looked on DU, but all they were taking over there was strychnine.

Yeah, my bad on that one. I always down two or three big glasses of water if I've imbibed the night before. (Much of a hangover's pain is due to dehydration). If I forget, I recommend a hair of the dog as a last resort ...

Getting to know Norm Coleman. Really impressive guy. He's going places.

There were so very many it is impossible to pick a "favorite" but a couple of highlights for me were ......
1. Seeing George H. W. Bush introduce his son before Jeb's acceptance speech and realizing how very proud the elder Bushes must be of their two sons. They sure raised 'em right! ....... :-)
2. Having Elizabeth Dole win decisively after the late afternoon stories that Bowles was ahead. The thought of having x42's partner in crime as my Senator (and taking Jesse Helms' seat in the Senate) was just about unbearable ..... especially considering who our other Senator is.
3. Just watching things snowball through the evening. Some other especially sweet victories were Talent, Coleman, Chambliss, and Ehrlich.

Texas Governor Rick Perry and Senator-Elect John Cornyn win. The democrats wanted to see Florida and Texas go down to spite the Bush Family. It just wasn't going to happen.

nephew representing Rhode Island.Wait a minute, that's his son, Patches, or Checkers, or something like that being reprehensible in Rhode Island.
The Kennedys can all be recogizned by their teeth, but keeping the relationships - and THEIR relationships apart is difficult. There are just so many...

I have to admit, I switched back and forth between CNN and Fox News. CNN looked brighter and was actually more interesting (especially seeing people in near tears). Why does Fox News look dark compared to CNN? Also, Fox news was behind in some of the calls - CNN called both Georgia and Colorado far ahead of Fox - even Fred Barnes made a joke about how Fox wouldn't make the call until the senator was sworn in! I never watch CNN, but their election night coverage was way better...

"...at the beautiful portrayal of Saxby Chambliss hugging his beautiful wife " Saxby isn't the only GOP winner with a beautiful wife. Governor-elect Erlich's wife is an absolute DOLL. In fact, I loved seeing so MANY good-looking Republican women during all the acceptance speeches. We've really got some impressive ladies in this party!
Seeing CNN in total meltdown was fun, too. And I don't think I've ever seen "Errin' Brown" look less professional. Fox News, OTOH, had things well in hand, clean, crisp, professional. One highlight - Carl Cameron's reporting, especially when he overheard a Widder Carnahan aide counseling her that "there just aren't enough votes left in the unreporteds." He said, "Watch for a Carnahan Concession just a few minutes from now." And not 10 minutes later, there it was.
Also fun to see CNN say that it would be MANY DAYS before we knew how MO and MN turned out. Hah.
