ENOUGH SCHADENFREUDE!
Me | 11/6/2002

Posted on 11/06/2002 12:16:28 PM PST by ArcLight

I've detected way too much gloating up in here. It makes me uncomfortable and I wonder if it bothers anybody else.

I thank God the GOP did as well as it did, but I harbor no hatred for the opposition. For one thing, well, I just don't. I find it hard to hate somebody just because he'd pull a different lever in a voting booth. For another, if we did that, we'd be just like the worst, creepiest people we've seen in the Democrat party--the ones that held the Wellstone funerally or who passed out Oreo cookies to attack a black Republican in Maryland.

I can't stand that kind of hateful attack-dog stuff, and I want no part of it. The gloating I see here reminds me of it, and I hope that people will dial it back a bit, now that the first flush of victory has passed.

Or is it just me?

You have to remember that the other side genuinely believes that we are evil, not just wrong, but evil. That generates a lot of return.

Frankly, I'd like to see the gloating changed into encomiums for the Democratic team a la: "Yep, we were lucky to beat you guys. That McAuliffe and his stratergurey...er..stragtegery...whatever...were entirely correct. We'd certainly hate to meet that team in 04."

Hee, hee.

Well, that's what loses wars. If you aren't clear about the enemy, and the need to win, you lose.

This isn't some kind of high school debating exercise. Peoples lives are being lost daily (the pre-born), and many peoples lives are literally in the balance in the future. The stakes in this war are enormous. Jubilation at a victory which has the "potential" of profoundly changing the outcome of the war is a GOOD THING.

Don't feel too bad --we got "tax and spend" Ed Rendell (but he's soooo funny and likes sports) as guv'ner here in PA -- and now I hear he might want to incorporate my suburban county into Philadelphia, so that OUR taxes can pay for their failed school system and drug addicts -- Golly gee ! what a great idea !

I'll tell ya what , I have never gone to D U website until today. Some of the things these people post are pretty scary. Downright evil. If some of these were posted on F/R they would be pulled immediately and the poster banned for life. Nasty language is the standard over there . These people deserved to lose. May they lose forevermore. Go spend a little time over there...in fact you can start with the poem that I gave you th elink to above. I don't usually like to gloat either, but I am very happy today. It's a nice poem...check it out.

I feel we were robbed of celebrating on Bush's 2000 election night. The dems were trying to steal the election. After two hard years we are entitled to be happy our side won. Please try to understand.

President Bush is first class, he isn't rubbing this great win into the dems face.

Name one government program you think the Republicans will cut. I know your post mentioned corruption, but do you think the party of "less government intrusion" will actually implement its beliefs? Unfortunately, I don't anymore. I would like them to throw me a bone. I don't expect the New Deal and Great Society to be gone with the stroke of a pen, but I'd like to see Bush cut SOMETHING damnit.
Much as I have enjoyed my life away from the tiny, ineffective gadfly of a party - the Libertarian Party - these past 7 years, I can see where this is going to go: The GOP has 2 or 4 years in which to show us that they really mean business. The rational LP'ers out there should give the Republican Congress a chance to prove themselves. In fact they should join the GOP and help re-energize the Republican Liberty Caucus.

Face it, LP'ers: With a first-across-the-bar election system, 3rd parties cannot rise above the level of spoilers. And a constant life of spoiling the better in the name of the perfect is a stupid strategy. We have to ensure the GOP stays the dominant party for a couple cycles. THEN, if they haven't accomplished anything by then, after having had full control of Congress & the WH, then the libertarians will finally be in a good position to split the party, since many more actual activists will follow them than ever have before.

Don't forget the 'gloating' done in plain sight by the Rats and their abettors in the media when Jumpin Jim Jeffords did his thing! The joy was palatable despite the fact that the "will of the people" had been openly defied.

For the record: I don't hate anybody, liberal or conservative. But I do hate the various causes that liberals stand for: communism, socialism, liberalism, humanism, hedonism, atheism, etc.

And no one can deny the viciousness with which our adversaries try to impose their values and beliefs on our country. Equal intensity in opposition is absolutely essential for our survival. Their past "lever pulling" brought us 9-11.

Ok, ya'll, celebration is now ending - back to work! 2004 coming up, time to squeeze some more Dems out of the Senate (they have more seats to risk next time up.)

10 years of clinton politics has finally passed, I will gloat for the next two knowing that the SC will be maintained, that the Federal Courts will be maintained, that my faith in this nation has fully been restored last night; if I died right now...I would know that my country is country I always knew.

... the RAT party was no longer interested in the continuity of the Constitutional Republic.

There it is. That is absolutely correct: The democRats are an enemy in every sense of the word, bent on the destruction of our style of government and our way of life.

There's no other conclusion possible, when you objectively observe their behavior and judge the meaning of their words.

With all due respect this election wasn’t analogous to some grand game of football, with both sides playing the same game, to the same rules and with the same goals. The results will have a direct impact on the liberty, safety and financial wellbeing of myself, and also those close to me. If it were in my power to do so I would order a day of bell ringing across the land.

(Please don't take this wrong Admins :) )

Arc, you obviously haven't been over to the Dem forums. You'd see some of the most vile, despicable things on the planet.

THey're hoping that Harris's plane goes down on the way to Washington. Hoping the economy tanks so that they can lead a revolution. The govt is now a dictatorship. Poor THEIR America. Ignorance is strength etc straight out of orwell is the future of the US now.

I don't feel for them one little bit. What we're saying is EXTEREMELY mild compared to what they're saying.

Hey, you're the same ArcLight who threatened to leave FreeRepublic because of all the "rampant racism."

We just can't do anything to please you, can we? There are other forums, you know.

Ver. 1. The Lord reigneth. One of the most joyous utterances which ever leaped from mortal lip. The overthrow of the reign of evil and the setting up of Jehovah's kingdom of goodness, justice, and truth, is worthy to be hymned again and again, as we have it here for the third time in the psalms.

Republicans have consistently lost on major issues and elections because they have been 'nice', 'polite' and 'civil.'

What we on the right needs is a big dose of scorched-earth, take no prisoners, jolly roger, attack-dog stuff.

To make up for the past half-century of spineless supplication to the liberals and the press, I figure 100% nasty for about 20 years is the minimum.

Do you want to be nice or win? The Dems made that choice long ago. Evidently you'd prefer to be nice and lose. You'll fit right in with Trent Lott and the rest of the round-heels in Congress.

Let the people tremble. Let the chosen people feel a solemn yet joyful awe, which shall thrill their whole manhood. Saints quiver with devout emotion, and sinners quiver with terror when the rule of Jehovah is fully perceived and felt. It is not a light or trifling matter, it is a truth which, above all others, should stir the depths of our nature.

Let the earth be moved. Not merely "the people, "but the whole earth should feel a movement of adoring awe when it is known that on the mercyseat God sits as universal monarch. The pomp of heaven surrounds him, and is symbolised by the outstretched wings of waiting cherubs; let not the earth be less moved to adoration, rather let all her tribes bow before his infinite majesty, yea, let the solid earth itself with reverent tremor acknowledge his presence.
