Ed Thompson (Libertarian) took 10% of the vote, leaving the Repub with only 43%.

When will libertarians, both candidates and voters, ever grow a brain? If they can't beat the Repub in the primaries, they aren't going to win the race, yet they run against the Repub and let the state go to the Dims.

Idiots.

I think they care more about their AGENDA and their beliefs than they do the Country. It's as if they are on a "mission." I guess they like to elect Democrats. It's all I can figure. IF they could EVER curb their tendencies and WAIT until they had a decent shot at getting their platform OUT THERE, it would be different. All they have accomplished for YEARS is electing Democrats. You can thank THEM for Bill Clinton.

No, they're smart. They're having exactly the effect they intend to have. They're only "idiots" if their intent is to elect more Republicans -- but it's not. That's *your* goal, not theirs.

*Their* goal, on the other hand, is to push American politics more towards libertarian policies. And winning is not the only way they can accomplish that. They can also accomplish that by sucking enough disaffected voters to their candidates to start affecting the election results. At that point, both major parties are going to have to start thinking about how to change their platforms to be more attractive to libertarian-leaning voters, in order to get those votes back next time around.

Republicans may not get it the first time, but if they consistently start losing elections because they've lost X% to the libertarians and that doesn't leave them enough votes to win against the Democrats, you can bet your hind end they'll start catering to those voters with more libertarian-focused policies. Mission accomplished.
