***Heavy Turnout: Another View***

It is my humble opinion that the high turnout is based on one reason: national security.
People tend to get motivated when their own lives are at stake. Planes flying into buildings and WMD talk not only scared people, but opened their eyes.
Conservatives know that this election could be crucial for the survival of our great nation.

You are quite right about 1994. I remember working the phones. The head of the local election office came back from the polls and said, it does not look good. There is a really big turn out. This is bad for republicans.

Everyone working the phone back then turned almost in unison and said, not this time. Everyone Republican we have called on this list is telling us they voted and voted early.

The turnout was for Republicans.

Outer suburb of St.Paul here. More than 200 at precinct this morning. Waited for 40 minutes. Conservative area.

"I've always been Republican, and never an early voter....always go after work. (Don't know if that makes me weird, or normal, lol)." Me too. The lines are shorter in the evening. I usually go from the polling booth to the TV to watch early returns from the East.

Today, however, I couldn't wait to vote a straight Republican ticket and send a message.

The only thing which gives me pause is this:

Although the polls show key Senate races a toss-up, there is one thing that polls cannot measure -- the ability of the Democrats to turn out the dead to vote, to turn out the "family pet vote," to round-up welfare cheats to vote, to get illegal immigrants to vote, to find sympathetic judges to keep the polls opened beyond official closing time to allow surrogates of people in comas to get to the polls. In short, pre-election polls show voter preference, and do not take into account deliberate and pervasive voter fraud. This makes me nervous.

But the thing which can push aside all the voter fraud is a massive turn-out by Republicans. If Republicans turned out in the 75%-80% range, this could be a blow-out for the GOP, even here in California for Simon.

I can't speak for the rest of Minnesota, but I was the first person to vote in my Township. The so-called "Wellstone Memorial" made my blood boil. I normally vote at the end of the day, but today I could not wait to vote.

I actually thought to myself "what if I die today before voting?". So I was up early and stood in the snow waiting for the door to open.

Republicans well remember how the 2000 election was FALSELY called early for Gore, dampening voters, spirits the Florida panhandle.

I was talking to a guy while waiting in line for the polls to open this morning. He told me he went to vote after work in the 2000 election. He had to wait almost 4 hours to vote because they had run out of ballots and were waiting on more to be delivered.

I would've liked to have gone early....but I never can seem to get out of the house early enough .... (I go straight to the kitchen, make my coffee, and sit in front the computer, starting my day with FR......now, THAT must be weird!) :)

I hope you all are right and the turnout is straight R (pun intended). But, I am not getting my hopes up until I see the end results. Fraud is rampant and 2000 proved the pubbies are afraid to address it.

Lott just said that he's looking for Saxby Chambliss to win in Georgia -- if you know anyone in Georgia that will vote for Chambliss call them and tell them to go vote!

As numerous other people have pointed out before me, if Chambliss can pull out a squeaker in Georgia and Allard can pull out a squeaker in Colorado (and both of these are looking more and more possible by the minute), we just might pull out this damn thing. My biggest fear though is the tens of thousands of lawyers on both sides that are just waiting to file lawsuits first thing tomorrow morning. It's going to be complete chaos no matter what happens.

I voted before 8 AM this morning here in New Hampshire, and it was busy. I hear it has been busy all day. My gut tells me Republicans are looking for broken glass to crawl over on their way to the polls! Somehow, as nervous as I am, my gut keeps telling me....

By midnight you would have become a registered democrat voter that selected the demon candidate of choice about 12 times (or however many it takes for the dem to win)

I am beginning to get rather shocked at the good news that is coming out......there are two pieces of bad news I have seen....Drudge saying Dole is losing and Allard losing, but if what I am reading here and on other threads is true, we could lose both of them and may still manage to pull out on top in the Senate with some shocking wins. All I have to say is I am getting blasted excited! Get out to vote!!!!!!!!!!!! Drag your friends, family, and neighbors to the polls!!! We have a chance to make history!

Listening to Hannity -- the report on WABC (???) is light voter turn-out in the NY metro-area -- I imagine that is a heavy Dem area
