Sorry, but your source is just plain wrong. The 95dB limit you're thinking of is measured at 20 inches from the exhaust pipe outlet, not "50 feet from the centerline" which I stated (correctly) was "typical" of most state laws. The California limit for vehicles under 6,000 lbs starts at 86dbA for older vehicles and goes all the way down to 80dbA for newer ones. For motorcyles it starts at 88dbA for older ones, down to a max of 80dbA for newer ones. See sections 27200 thru 27207 of the California vehicle code, here:
