Actually the after-market industry and organizations like SEMA and MERA stifle true economic growth in communities across the country. Most products are manufacturered in other states or country so the sale of he products draws money out of these communities. The local economic activity generated by this is merely circulating local dollars--no gain. Because of the industries myopic and fool hardy business plan, these businesses are largely dependent on state laws being ignored--and people knowingly or not breaking state laws. This is not a good thing at all. Also a thriving after-market auto or car stereo economy requiers an acceptance of a much lower quality of life in these communities. This predatory industry also displaces natural local business that would have grown.

The fact that the after-market industry is largely dependent on ilegal activity means that it will not last--it cannot last its current form. Thus when this happens the local economies that were built around this house of cards will colapse resulting in a large sector of a local economy being set back many years.

The business plans that Flowmaster and others use which have no real consern for the communities they feed off of
are not good for America. The only local community that Flowmaster does much good for is the city in California that exports them. Having more Flowmasters, Magnaflows, or Borla's or Greddy's will not do a community any good only lower the quality of life for most people.

So let's see. The noise factor didn't work so you turn to economics. Okay, that's interesting enough

Most products are manufacturered in other states or country so the sale of he products draws money out of these communities. The local economic activity generated by this is merely circulating local dollars--no gain.

What?!? I guess you haven't bothered looking where most of the HQs and manufacturing of these businesses are then. Most every quality product is manufactured in CA, home of the hot rod. Some are here in NC, but all within the US. Secondly your argument makes absolutely no sense. By that argument, I should demand HP, Compaq, Whirlpool, Dell, JVC, and any other manufacturer move a plant to my city so 'local' money 'stays in the community'

Because of the industries myopic and fool hardy business plan, these businesses are largely dependent on state laws being ignored--and people knowingly or not breaking state law

Just ignored my first reply then did you? If you'd bother looking, Flowmaster falls into the db levels required by the respective states. They're not going to make a product that can't be sold legally or they're going to be out of business rather quickly. I'll give you a good example. I guess you've never bothered trying to buy window tint that is illegal within a respective state. If you try to buy tint from an authorized dealer(and FWIW you can't buy aftermarket performance parts from anyone but an authorized dealer) they are by law unable to sell you the tint in the first place. If they do they can be fined. I don't know many companies that are going to sell a product they know they will be fined for.

Also a thriving after-market auto or car stereo economy requiers an acceptance of a much lower quality of life in these communities.

LOL!! So if you buy after market equipment you're living a lower quality of life? Have you bothered looking at the db noise levels on stock stereo equipment? Unless you're 40% deaf, you're going to hear hiss in the speakers. Are you suggesting we now have to hear hissing in our speakers to make your a$$ happy?

. Having more Flowmasters, Magnaflows, or Borla's or Greddy's will not do a community any good only lower the quality of life for most people.

Well that's your opinion. You've yet to prove one fact, present one state law that's being broken, or make any valid statement based on anything but 'Well I don't like it!!' That's a liberal argument. Did you get lost and just happen on FR? Continue stomping your foot, and the millions of vehicles out there that are legally driving the road with after market exhausts and engine modifications will keep on driving
