Each voter gets a printed receipt from the machine. If the votes are not what they wanted, they can take it to a poll worker to cancel the vote and get it changed.

That is not the way it works. They get no receipt. I agree they should, but they don't.

Uh, they are supposed to. In our counties they do. It's their way of confirming their votes and if there is a problem then showing it to the poll worker.
