Voted straight "REP" this morning; glad I waited instead of voting early - big controversy over the early ballots - some idiot is likely to find a way to throw the early ballots out....

Bexar county, Texas always goes "DEM" though, so it's most likely a mere "protest vote" - we shall see - lines formed early in my precinct....

I always mark the Republican Party line at the top of the ballot. I then go through the rest of the ballot. If there is a Democrat candidate without a Republican opponent, I vote for the Libertarian candidate (as a protest). This year (due to the increasing strength of Republicans at the state level) there were no races where there was a Libertarian but no Republican. Nueces County is still dominated by RATS so there were still some races where the RAT was unopposed. I have only voted for two RATS ever. In 1982 I held my nose and voted for Benstsen, because the Republicans nominated a real goofball candidate for the US Senate that year. I voted for Mark White in 1986 against Bill Clements, and I don't regret that. I felt vindicated in the spring of 1987 when Clements revealed that while he was on the SMU board of regents, he approved of payments to athletes in violation of NCAA rules. These payments were made after SMU had already been put on probation for violating NCAA rules and resulted in the SMU football pregram being subjected to the "death penalty" for two years.
