While neither party vigorously presented a clear and comprehensive economic and national security strategery, it's clear that the democrats not only failed to lead, but obstructed the administrations efforts across a broad legislative spectrum. I think you are right; I have sensed this even when talking to moderate acquaintances. Let's hope and pray that with the post 9-11 generation, it is all about leadership! Excellent post.
