This doesn't pass the smell test.
I personally believe he just managed to piss off the wrong people one time too many. The poor shmuck not only was set up like a bowling pin, but now it appears they (the people he pissed off) don't even want this to get to trial.
His defense team is smart and agressive. They would not back off or back down. They are acquiring FBI doc's about his investigation and the informants who set his ass up. Things must have been getting a little to close to home for the scumbags. I feel sorry for him, and more for his poor wife.
The poor sot.
I don't know... American Mosques harbor and aid many known Arab terrorists and terrorist groups.
Black Muslim Inmate: "Uh, He fell down."
Guard: "Ok. Thanks."
How is it that I've never heard of this Darrel Issa guy before? He's from my own state. I looked at his website, and he seems like a good Republican on so many levels, but I found an article on Polical USA that says he has made comments defending the legitimacy of Hezbolla. I can think of a number of Republicans (just about every regular freeper) who would not stand for such ideas coming from our grand old party. Anyone familiar with this guy? He's orginally from Cleveland, moved west. He's a pretty solid guy, ACU rating of 84%. He's definitely supportive of the Lebanese, but that's his blood. This article from a Jewish paper is a lot more sympathetic. The alleged pro-Hezbollah comments came from the Iranian government news agency, not a reliable source.
Frankly though, I don't care if he's anti-Israel and totally pro-PLO. He's an elected Congressman (a Republican, no less) and if Rubin et al were really plotting what they are accused of they are just as guilty of terrorism as any Al Qaeda member plotting to blow up a synagogue and Henry Waxman's offices and they deserve the exact same penalty if convicted.

Yeah, sort of like Vince Foster and Ron Brown.
By way of some clarification perhaps, I wonder how many American Muslims are not Islamists. The large majority of them, I'd say. Most come here in order to not have to live under Sharia. They're highly unlikely to want to bring it here.

A lot wrong with it. I've looked at it a bit, and I believe the arrest was a sop to Darrell Issa. After that, of course, it has become a rallying case for every corrupt and traitorous islamist and nazi within and outside the government. It is a staple of every Aryan Nations hole on the net, for example.
A few of the odd things about the case:
It all hinges on an "informant", who told the FBI that he had delivered gunpowder to Rubin. Gunpowder is'nt really prime bombmaking material, and is found in the possession of every handloader in the world.
The informant was supposed to be a member of JDL and a former Marine. However, looking at written material by that individual, he doesn't seem to be Jewish at all. And no, I'm not going to post the stuff here, or his name :).
The FBI, at one time, seemed to have "lost" him - at least they claimed not to know his whereabouts. That may have been a ploy to obstruct the legal defense, though - corruption at high enough levels can make that happen.
His name doesn't seem Jewish either. On the other hand, a Marine who converted to Islam and refused to go fight in desert storm bears the same name. He was court-martialled for attacking an officer in connection with that, and got - I think - 16 months jailtime.
