The man was victimized previously and nothing was done by the authorities to remedy the situation. He was pushed to the breaking point by a system that was forcing him into perpetual victimhood. When that happens, a man either becomes a passive sheep or he grows fangs and gets nasty.
The English government reaped what it sowed with Tony Martin. Put people into a position of helpless, repeated victimization long enough, and a certain percentage will haul off and respond in kind when they've reached their limit. Even a nice dog will bite if abused enough and given no escape.
English Newspaper story from the town where Mr. Martin lived, detailing trial informaiton /A>
I would like to emphasize that I feel that anyone has a right to use deadly force when deadly force is used against them or others or they fear that their life is in danger. The use of deadly force by civilians to protect property, is not universally allowed in all political jurisdictions. In some it is, in others it isn't. That is a societal choice.
In my opinion, this was a case about using deadly force to protect property. It also appears that Mr. Martin was NOT telling the whole truth at trial.
I feel that UK gun laws are stupid and criminal. I feel that people have a God-given right to life and the protection of themselves. I feel that scum like to the burglars should have been locked up for life.
I don't beleive that Mr. Martin is an example those of us who value the right to self protection, should use as our symbol in arguing against gun control.
