No, I was being rhetorical, and probably blaspheming too. Luckily nobody I know was injured or killed.

It's like when a plane crashes, and two hundred fifty people including innocent little babies die in flaming agony, but one guy in the back of the plane lives and tells the TV reporters, 'It's a MIRACLE! God was really looking out for me!'

I think this is primitive magical thinking, just one step removed from tribal witchcraft, as well as deeply insulting and hurtful to the families of those who died. What, they didn't pray hard enough?

Politicians and preachers who take credit for the rain had better be prepared to be blamed for the drought.

This world has been given over to evil to have its day and dominion. Generally, God waits to be invited because that's the gentlemanly thing to do. Jesus said, "Pray without ceasing." If we could manage something close to that, we might manage to thwart more wickedness. It is also the business of Christians to praise God for goodness and blessing when it happens.
