Coleman did not want to do a debate on Monday since it would not allow time for a critique of Mondale's performance. It appears they compromised and went with Monday morning, which will allow for such a critique in the voters minds.

The one negative about the time of course is that not many will be watching. BUT.....it will give time for the news media to play excerpts of Mondale attempting to talk during the noon, 5 and 6 p.m. news. After, the debate will be rebroadcast in the evening. That is better than just having the debate in the evening.
