The writer could be correct about a lot of things. Certainly part of what she says is seriously existent today. I have no doubt Muhammad and Malvo have a lot of sympathizers happy to let them do the dirty work. I have some doubt as to whether Muhammad wanted to be caught. He was caught by accident. One of the critical leads in the case came from the U.K., of all places. Eveyrone is an authourity on what they now claim should have been obvious. It wasn't obvious at the time.

With a little more money in their pocket and a few more brain cells they could have gone on for years.

This is probably the most important piece of work I have read on the subject of the sniper. That the author is running for office is of no consequence to me - except to wish her luck. The bottom line is that her column will not make it to the main stream media.

If Farrakhan didn't feel some vulnerability, he wouldn't have had a full blown news conference within hours of Muhammed and Malvo being taken into custody. I'm not saying he knew who the shooters were beforehand - I'm saying he is now doing damage control by getting out in front of the story. Farrakhan may have even been trying to send signals to them during his news conference.

I have my doubts. Consider the night of the capture. Here are two guys on the run, who managed to evade -- cooly and calmly evade -- capture when stopped or spotted at the scene of various shootings -- even, we are told, being captured on TV footage near the infamous phone booth in Virginia.

According to the staff of the Y's they visited, they followed the media coverage, there was a working radio in the car, and Muhammad toted a laptop in working order. All that, and yet the account of their capture describes two VA sherriffs sitting on the hood of their car, with guns trained on them, for two hours while they waited for the swat team to get into position, while, we are told, Muhammad and Malvo slept. I don't know about you, but I've caught a nap at a rest stop more than once, and the slightest movement had me wide awake -- I doubt that killers who didn't want to get caught didn't notice, all that time, what was going on around them.

One of the critical leads in the case came from the U.K., of all places.

Which lead?

As far as everyone being "an authority," I think it's more a case of our minds rejecting illogical stories and explanations of events that don't match the reality of human behavior (even the most horrendous behavior) as we know it, and trying to make sense of them, because certainly the media and LE aren't making much sense.
