RE: post 72, I had one small "innacuracy" that FreedomPoster gently corrected me on by FReepmail:

Actually, that was a Mini-14. A real M-14 shoots the same round as the FAL, and is as big, or bigger.

It's "Mini" because it shoots the smaller 5.56x45 round (.223 Remington, same round as the M16/M4 shoots), instead of the larger 7.62x51 round that the FAL, the G3, and M14 battle rifles shoot.

[sigh] So, my favorite was the Mini-14, not M14 as previously reported. Mea Culpa. I'm still "new" at all this long-rifle stuff!

I have two Ruger Mini-14's, one is a SS Ranch model and the other is on a Bullpup frame with a 90 rd drum magazine.

both are scoped and fun to shoot...
