I think John Pershing did this to the Moro Islamic fanatics in the Philippines in the early 1900s. It calmed them the f*ck down pretty fast.

The return of the .45 (Long) Colt single action revolvers to replace the newly issued .38 special revolvers helped too, I'm sure.

Yeah the .38's just went thru 'um - the .45's sent them a** over teakettle when hit in the hand.

I thought the .45 was invented during Korea to 'persuade' coked up suicide warriors to very abruptly calm down. Wrong info?

It wasn't the .38 Special, it was the even weaker .38 Long Colt. They pulled the old Colt .45 Peacemakers out of storage and sent them to the PI.
