It would be absolutely unimaginable that votes would be thrown out for a race that has no eligibility issues. They would just count the absentees separately, perhaps making two piles of them (pre and post Wellstone death) and just count all the votes from the other races along with the polling site votes.
No other Florida races were affected by the 2000 vote-divining scandal.
That was one of the legal issues addressed today. Are all absentee ballots invalidated because Wellstone died?
How about the other people being elected at the same time?
Today, I loved listening to the legal arguments. Now we must wait to hear what the Court decides.
This is a situation where it is impossible for all votes to be counted fairly. The best that the government can do, is to follow the current laws and apply them in a fair manner.
