An object (inset picture is closeup view) can be seen streaking below a jet. Brandon Mowry said that he didn't notice the fast-moving object zooming across the sky on Oct. 20 near Colonie until he went back to his station and watched the video.
No one apparently knows what it is.
The FBI is investigating. Agents are trying determine exactly what the object is. Officials with the Federal Aviation Administration said that whatever the object is, it never showed up on local radar.

This story caught my eye.

It also caught the eye of about a dozen FReepers, who've posted it every day for the last several days.

Check out this article about same object: http://www.nuforc.org/CB021020.html
the object in the video looks very much like a surface-to-air missile. It would be interesting to discover who was in the plane that was flying over at the time. It might be possible to find some indication locally of where it landed or if there was an unexplained detonation sound around that time.
Things that make you go HMMMMMM

Hmmm. I did search (UFO, object, etc) and came up with zilch. Sorry for the repost. However, the story that followed from the NUFORC site was pretty interesting.

Looks like a typical "flying rod" UFO, which is almost always just a bug out of focus.

You are not the first to do a search with the correct word and end up with "zilch". Then, others jump on your case as if the search engine failure was YOUR fault.

the "object" is either a lot closer than the plane, or nearly as large as the plane -- yet no one saw it.
I vote for a LOT closer, say inches.

The first one of these things i've seen posted on FR was on 911. It showed up in a few frames of wtc footage. In fact they seem to show up on footage everywhere, and yet no human being has ever seen one live. Spooky -- unless it's an insect near the camera lens. You decide.

We'd like to bring your Aunt in for questioning.

Or, how about a flaw in the video tape? Since there are reports of similar sightings on video before this, maybe some company has a video-tape machine that needs cleaning.
I love the part about the FBI investigating. They probably took it back to the office and filed it under "MOre crazy reports."
Well, heck, that's as good as any opinion I've seen yet.

link to the NUFORC site (it's in post 4 - sorry, need to brush up on my screaming HTML) and read about the FBI taking a copy of the video, refusing to answer questions. One guy does an analysis of the photo and comes up with a possible missle scenario.

Must be those rod-like creatures that live in the upper atmosphere (according to a scientist friend of the photographer).
Uh huh.

Sounds Great!
May we bring the rest of the Hoo Hoo, Hee Haw and Congress with us?
There are many questions we would like answered, also...

no human being has ever seen one live Yes, they can be seen. Not everyone can see them, but if your eye is quick enough to see a .22 bullet draw a gray line from the muzzle to the target in good light, you can see these rods.
