My take? A shoebomber detonated near the right wing, and the explosion ignited the nearby fuel tank (two explosions, eyewitnesses...two rattles, CVR). The wing did not separate, but was damaged enough to lose drag. (fisherman, pieces of the wing came off and took out the tail.) The plane, losing drag on the right, lurched to the left (fdr, sudden left turn) The resulting "fishtail" caused side forces to hit the tail, breaking it off. Loss of the tail caused the plane to belly up and fall immediately.
