Sniper suspect a member of Nation of Islam October 27, 2002 (CHICAGO) Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan acknowledged on Saturday that suspected sniper John Allen Muhammad is a member of the religious group.
But Farrakhan said the man charged in a series of shootings that left 10 people dead and three wounded would be ousted from the Chicago-based group if he is convicted of the crimes.
"He has not formally been kicked out of the Nation of Islam, but certainly if he's found guilty of something like this he would not be considered at all a member of the Nation of Islam," Farrakhan said.
Farrakhan said he "grieves for the senseless loss of life" caused by the sniper shootings in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
Farrakhan held a news conference in response to speculation that emerged after a man who lived a block from Muhammad in Tacoma, Wash., told reporters that Muhammad provided security at the "Million Man March" in Washington, an event that was organized by Farrakhan. He said Muhammad joined the Nation of Islam in 1997 but that he had not been in contact with the group since 1999, when he was involved in a domestic dispute with his wife, also a member of the group.
"Those who knew him never said ugly things about his conduct or his behavior," Farrakhan said.
Farrakhan said Muhammad, 41, did not provide security at the march.
"He might well have been there," Farrakhan said of Muhammad, who changed his name from John Allen Williams after converting to Islam. But he had no official role as a security person for Farrakhan.

if he's found guilty of something like this he would not be considered at all a member of the Nation of Islam," Farrakhan said. Why not, their ranks are full of convicted felons and murderers currently doing time in prison.

Little bit behind the curve, aren't they? Next thing you know, they'll report that the Chechen "rebels" in Moscow were actually Islamic radicals. Imagine that.

If Farakrazykhan expelled every criminal, every felon and every mentally ill whacko who wants to kill innocent whites and blacks, he could hold his next Nation of Islam meeting in a phone booth.

Too bad we can't hear Calypso Louie respond to this follow-up question:
"Mr. Farrakhan, are you refering to just the people of color killed, or do you
include the dead blue-eyed devils in your grieving?"

"Those who knew him never said ugly things about his conduct or his behavior," Farrakhan said.
Reminds me of some trial testimony at Ft. Smith, Arkansas for a desparado
caputured in Indian Territory.
A "character witness" said something along the line that the accussed may be a
cattle rustler and a horse thief, but "in our neck of the woods, that doesn't necessarily
make you a bad person."

Looks like Mr. Muhammad must have taken an assignment with the Nation of Islam IMF
(Impossible Mission Force), LOL!

They go to the prisons to recruit felons and their family members.
Look at the areas in the inner cities where they recruit members.
I don't think that there is much selection at first. Afterwards, who knows what goes on.
