Oh great, we have that waste of flesh James Kallstrom as an advisor to "fix" this problem. Ugh!
Isn't it possible for counties to get a judge to order federal LEAs to perform as required? Why all the political haggling? This seems like a clear letter-of-the-law issue. I really don't want to hear what Kallstrom "wishes" would happen. I want to see him (or Pataki) in front of a judge making it happen.

Earlier this year, three dozen Florida police officers were deputized with federal arrest powers, making that state the first in the nation to approve such a measure.I hope they work weekends and holidays, since the INS doesn't.

I don't think local law and the citizens of the area can afford to jail, feed, and detain an illegal who will never be picked up by the INS and transfered back to Mexico.
There is a simple anwer to this. Let private enterprise take care of it. I'm certain some enterprising individuals will start up a company that will be happy to pick up arrested illegals and transport them by bus for processing back across the border. The cost could be covered by the INS and the local depts.
In fact I may have just found a little something to get into, any drivers on FR, I may be hiring.=o)

I'm going to kick some doors down.Maybe all of that WOsD training will come in handy after all.
Warning to LEOs...Illegal
aliens immigrants pack heat.
Who let Lee Malvo loose?

It's my opinion that the matter would go away by itself if ALL businesses that hired illegal aliens would be fined $100,000 for each illegal. Give everybody fair warning - then lower the boom!

Bump - a good source documenting the failures of the INS is the book by Michelle Malkin - INVASION

A trooper who speaks Spanish was called in and determined the men had recently crossed a southern border without documentation and were on their way to Rochester. It's a matter of time now before NY State becomes just like California and Texas, thousands of illegal aliens doing the jobs "no one wants to do", while our taxes soar to pay for all the services they demand.
And where's the INS? They can't be bothered. The donut shop just opened.

The INS is not an agemcy overlaoded with work, just look at the way they stay open Mon-Fri, off weekends. SO INS violations are only during the week. Surely someone can see that this agency needs cleaning and thank little tommy d., he is the one who won't give us the homeland security and this would cure the problem.

Has been happening in TN for years. Years.

I'd say this is "completely unbelieveable", but it isn't.
But it should be.
We are being overrun by illegal aliens everywhere in this country and the INS is almost worthless in this life-and-death struggle. It's long past time to get the local police involved. Then, if they can't do it, the citizens will just have to step up and take whatever action is necessary.
Scr*w the worthless INS and their PC rules! They're mostly Clinton holdovers anyway and can't be trusted.
