The Geneva convention only bans military use. During WWII I believe the only power to use poison gas military was Imperial Japan( in China).

Putin I think is my favorite world leader since Pinochet and I was real skeptical of the Russians before him.

There is no telling what all the Russians have in their arsenal!! They cannot be trusted. I believe they have provided Saddam a lot of what he has. And, whatever the Russians have, one can bet it can be bought on the street over there. That is still a most secretive, paranoid society, and we should "trust, but verify". Haven't I heard that somewhere before?

I expect that the Russians will be sliding more in the direction of the US lead with respect to smashing islamoterrorism and islamofascism and islamoidiocy hereafter. Whether the French and the Chinese can get the picture is hard to say. Rather than screw any more with the French we should endeavor to have them removed as a permanent member of the Security Council. They were given the seat as a token, anyway, and have consistently failed to live up to what little was expected of them. As to the Chinese, well, there are a lot of them, but they don't have much interest in things outside the middle kingdom. As long as oil, for example, flows, they don't care much who happens to be the custodian. So let's get the Russians on board, pitch le fops and work on le chinosoises so we can kick islamoterrorist butt big time, early and often, until the become the peaceful people they purport to be instead of the rottweiler of religions.

I think Russia made the best decision they could under the circumstances.

Agreed.
Could you imagine if that same situation happened in this country and the same results occured. With the legions of lawyers and Bush haters it would be chaos. - Tom
