Finally, police realised the car they were looking for. But Chief Charles Moose REFUSED to reveal the number plate. It was only when one of his team LEAKED it that the pair were found ONE-AND-A-HALF HOURS LATER.
I think this, and ignored earlier reports regarding the pair is what people are upset about.

The Chief was attempting to contain the information to prevent some
citizen from doing what most of you here, expect the police department to do.
Legally/rightfully so. If they switched cars and YOU shot the wrong guy,
YOU would be held for manslaughter.

Just goes to show you how much the Lords trust the peasants: Carry permits are a statement that the police trust the people with arms. Moose doesn't even trust the people with a license plate number. And like the mistrust of people carrying sidearms, this mistrust too costs innocent lives.
