That doesn't mean we have to continue a very bad policy. Smart people correct their mistakes.

Can you name any responsible people in any position of power who supports your position? It would likely precipitate a war with a nuclear power. Brilliant. Do you realize that Taiwan itself has not declared its independance from China? "Smart people" hopefully do a little more homework before they make decisions.

So now we cower beneath anyone with a nuclear weapon, huh? Don't grovel on my behalf.

"It would likely precipitate a war with a nuclear power."

We should forget Iraq and concentrate on China now as they are the top of the pile as far as being "axis of evil" and take them down before they have the ability to totally destroy us which I believe is their intention.

If it comes to a nuke war, so be it.

People in Bush's own administration for example.

People from Bush1's administration, for example.

But the silly argument from authority is weak and beside the point.

I sense you are circling the wagons.

This is a massive blunder on the part of President Bush and I hope it does not hurt his ability to fight the war.

Also he needs to correct or address this mistake.

Was it the smart people that also made Communist China a nuclear power in the first place?

Good posts.

I read recently that we have sent 3 Los Angeles class subs "deep into the Pacific". While we need China to abstain, at the least, on the Iraq resolution and so we will reiterate the One China policy, we have made it clear we will defend Taiwan from attack or invasion.

One crisis at a time. Remember, all: the President is the face man. The policy is the work of a team. Condi Rice is the strategist at work here, IMO.
