Not only because the Democrats in question are old enough to remember him being in power: towards the end of his life, Leonid Brezhnev would "die" from time to time, and revival equipment had to be kept in his limosine in order to keep him alive. Similarly, if the Democrats are successful, they are clinging to life with washed out politicians.
