The corpse can't run. The election code is clear about that. The Democrats can't take the chance that the law would be enforced, so they HAVE to name someone, and Wellstone's name will have a magic marker drawn through it on the ballots.
In fact, the entire slate of Senate candidates will be printed on a supplemental ballot.

Not only do they have to replace him if they hope to have a chance, the law also says that absentee ballots will not be reprinted, and any absentee ballots cast for Wellstone, will be counted for Wellstone, not for the new candidate!

There are not many absentee ballots in Minnesota that have already been voted. Minnesota is not an absentee ballot state. I would guess maybe 1 to 2 percent of the electorate has already sent in their absentee ballot.

AND, they lose out on their most profitable avenue for vote fraud -- the absentee ballots!

But the State Supreme court could reinterpret the law! That is what we have seen elsewhere!
